Lucky enough to travel from an early age, Laura soon succumbed to wanderlust by visiting the US, Canada, Africa and most of Europe. A career in travel was her obvious destination, and after a decade specialising in winter activity holidays she joined the Discover the World team in 2010. A keen skier and Lapland aficionado, Laura recently spent time discovering the natural beauty of Iceland, and was particularly impressed by the Land of Fire and Ice’s geysers, glaciers and waterfalls.

Although born in the UK, Thora was raised in Iceland from an early age. With her international background and her father’s tour guiding in the Icelandic highlands, Thora has been a keen traveller all her life. After receiving a diploma in Travel and Tourism Studies and going to university in Iceland, she moved back to the UK, where she soon joined the Nordic team at Discover The World. Some of the places Thora has travelled to are Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Turkey, Slovenia, Hungary and Italy.

• Sitting at the edge of a cliff on Iceland’s northern coast at midnight on a sunny summer night, watching the sun sink towards the Arctic ocean before starting to rise again; whizzing across the snowy Icelandic highlands on a snowmobile; and swimming in beautiful Lake Bled in Slovenia at the foot of the Alps - in a thunderstorm!

A weddings specialist with four years’ experience of working for tour operators, Megan joined Discover the World’s Nordic team in September 2010. She knows exactly what makes the perfect wedding day and believes there are few places more romantic to tie the knot than Swedish Lapland and Iceland – and that’s coming from someone who’s organised weddings in the Maldives, the Seychelles and Italy.

With almost a decade of experience in the travel industry - not to mention exploring the likes of Australia, the US and most of Europe - Amy joined Discover the World in 2009, quickly developing a passion for Swedish Lapland. During a stay at the Icehotel, she was lucky enough to see the northern lights on two out of three nights, one of which was spent in an incredible Art Suite. Rather than feeling the chill, she managed to oversleep – proving that a night on the ice is more comfortable than it may appear!
