Weddings are always special but the experience of getting married at the Ice Chapel is especially something to cherish, possibly because of the uniqueness of the venue. And arriving at the chapel on a sledge pulled by a reindeer definitely sets the tone for your romantic day.
Getting married at the Icehotel
The Ice Chapel
Like the Icehotel itself, the Ice Chapel is designed and built each year from crystal-clear ice and snow and no two chapels are the same. Rows of ice ‘pews’ are covered in reindeer skins for the comfort of guests and witnesses and the magnificent crystal clear font takes centre stage in front of a unique piece of ice art or illuminated ice window.
Whether here as a couple or joined by family and friends, the uniqueness of the location will stay with you forever and memories and photographs will be especially cherished. After the ceremony, you can choose to enjoy a delicious à la carte wedding breakfast in the Icehotel restaurant, or go for a more ‘homely’ option at the rustic Homestead restaurant©.
Our Wedding Specialists
Our dedicated wedding specialists are here to help and advise at every step: whether on legal requirements; what to wear; how to arrange a photographer or whatever else you may need. We work hand in hand with the wedding coordinator to discuss your ideas and requests to ensure they are realised on your big day (subject to cost and feasibility).
Our Wedding Services
We can offer a range of wedding services – from booking your hairdresser, ordering your wedding cake and flowers as well as organising music and an official photographer. We are also able to arrange private group activities so you can make the most of your time in this stunning snowy location. Who knows, you may be lucky enough to have the northern lights appear, bringing a perfect end to a perfect day…
Your Bridal Gown
For the bride, the most important aspect for her wedding day has to be her outfit. Couples can take the traditional approach and dress in a full gown and veil, morning suit or even a kilt (yes, a kilt!) whilst others have a quirkier approach such as matching ski suits! Whatever you choose, there is so much excitement involved that brides rarely notice the interior temperature of -5°C!
A summary of legal requirements, clothing advice and other helpful hints can be found in our Wedding Dossier. Our knowledgeable team of consultants will be happy to assist whatever you are considering for your special day.
As a guideline a standard ICEHOTEL wedding package (which should be added to the basic holiday cost) includes return transfers to the Registrar in Kiruna to legalise paperwork; hire of the Ice Chapel; services of a Priest and translator plus a Marriage Certificate – this costs around £1,390.
"We went up the chair lift to the sky station to wait for the Northern Lights and saw an amazing display, couldn't have asked for anything more."
